PROF. CHEONG KOON HEAN
Prof. CHEONG Koon Hean is the Chair of the Centre for Liveable Cities (MND) and the Chair of the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (SUTD). She was formerly CEO(Housing & Development Board)(2010-2020), overseeing the development of some 1 million public housing flats; CEO(Urban Redevelopment Authority)(2004-2010) and concurrently Deputy Secretary(MND)(2001-2016). She played key roles in major urban transformations such as Marina Bay and the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City. She serves on numerous advisory panels; the board of National University of Singapore; was formerly Deputy President/current Council member of the International Federation for Housing & Planning and Chair of the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize’s Nominating Committee.
Dr Cheong received numerous awards, notably the Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding public service and was conferred the Urban Land Institute’s Prize for Urban Visionaries and the Lynn S Beedle Lifetime Achievement Award by the Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
