Why is this year’s IBEW only one day?
We are undertaking a refresh of the conferences within IBEW. In the odd years, starting with 2023, the Built Environment Leaders’ Summit will take place, targeting the Leadership level within built environment industry. The focus of the content this year explores the intersection of disciplines from both within and outside the built environment industry. We believe that our industry can gain unique insights from looking at future challenges through an interdisciplinary lens.
The full day Leaders’ Summit has been designed to take leaders on a journey of exploration and discovery over four important built environment themes; “Organizational Transformation”, “Digitalization”, “Advanced Manufacturing” and “Innovation & Technology”. Speakers from outside our industry will share their perspectives on these themes before leading built environment players wrap up with how they have tackled or implemented these built environment challenges. This is inline with our theme “Lateral Thinking in a Vertical World”, where we encourage Built Environment leaders to learn from other industry parallels.
The larger technical focused conference will be rebranded as the IBEW Practioner’s Conference and will return every even year, starting from 2024.
We believe that this new format for IBEW’s conference will deliver knowledge, ideas and networking towards more targeted audience profiles, increasing the value to each delegate throughout the value chain.
I’m not a CEO, can I join?
At IBEW, we define leaders as people who holds a position of some seniority and are tasked with leading strategic change within their organization. We believe that leaders exist at many levels and forms within any organization. While we generally accept all delegates, the Leaders’ Summit will be most beneficial to professionals who lead teams and have the mandate to drive strategic change within their teams or organizations.
Why is there no CPD points for this year’s conference?
With the format of a Leaders’ Summit, the content of the conference is less “technical” and more “big picture” in nature as opposed to our previous conference format. For professionals who are keen on CPD points, the BEX Asia trade exhibition happening from 6-8 September 2023 at Halls A, B, C of Sands Expo & Convention Centre will offer complimentary technical seminars, including an SGBC CPD points seminar on 8 September 2023. Stay tuned to www.bex-asia.com for more details.
The IBEW Practioner’s Summit in 2024 will return with more technical sessions that will offer CPD points in the format that you may be more familiar with.
Why is it so expensive?
The Leaders’ Summit pricing reflects the powerful content that we bring to the fore and the potential for industry leaders to unlock new insights and innovative approaches to the challenges that they face today and in the future.
Is this the new format for the future?
We are undertaking a refresh of the conferences within IBEW. In the odd years, starting with 2023, the Built Environment Leaders’ Summit will take place, targeting the Leadership level within built environment industry. The larger scale technical focused conference, which you may have attended in the past, will be rebranded as the IBEW Practioner’s Conference and will return every even year, starting from 2024.
We believe that this new format for IBEW’s conference will deliver knowledge, ideas and networking towards more targeted audience profiles, increasing the value to each delegate throughout the value chain.
Why is the program so long?
The Leaders’ Summit is planned as a single day event that compresses insightful sessions with structured networking opportunities during mealtimes. Each session has been intricately planned to guide the delegates intellectual journey while our round table setting for mealtimes, allows for delegates to have free flowing and uninterrupted conversations with fellow delegates.
When is early bird ending?
By 14th August, 2359 hrs.
Why are there only four speakers? Why are your speakers not from the built environment industry?
There are four keynote speakers whom we’ve invited from outside the industry. After each Keynote, they will be joined by various built environment speakers in a variety of formats such as panel discussions and fireside chats, for delegates to explore parallels and debate how our industry can potentially learn lessons by applying lateral thinking. Stay tuned as we progressively release our full lineup of speakers including from the built environment industry.
What can I expect to learn from attending this conference?
We’d like to think that the Leaders’ Summit isn’t here to “Teach” you something. As leaders within your organization and in the industry, you are most likely already an expert with deep domain knowledge. What we’d like to achieve, instead, is to expand your horizons and support yourself and organization in accelerating your transformation. This is a continuation of past IBEW’s themes that had encouraged the industry to “re-imagine the future” and “accelerate the transformation”.
In fact, we will feel our mission is accomplished if you were to leave the Leaders’ Summit with seeds of inspiration, drawn from progress in other industries. With these seeds planted, we hope that you can then draw up ingenious strategies that will truly transform your company and the built environment.
