United World College Dover Campus journey towards Super Low energy Platinum Green is a testimony to the fact that the progressive change is a lot more powerful than realised in general settings. Participants visiting the campus will be shared with all the details of how this school's community has come so far while working for environmental goals. A sharing through a structured presentation will lead participants into thought provoking ideas/initiatives which can transform any existing built environment's performance. Various technical initiatives will be shared together with the impact on efficiency in a measurable manner. This will be followed with a site tour where various green features e.g. Passive chilled beams, Rainwater and Condensate water Harvesting system, Solar sponsored by students, Green walls, Chiller plant room efficiencies, Application of a complex ecosystem on promoting biodiversity have been integrated in a campus which was not designed and built with these considerations. Integration of technology to transform existing old environment and bring it close to digital twins expectations with open source network approach. Key learning component is the take away that though the new built environment has a lot of attention on green initiatives, it is crucial to focus on existing buildings as that’s where a lot of carbon is sitting and they will be able to bring back some learnings which can be applied in any context and in any geography.
